Ho ho ho and a merry Christmas to you.
As you may have gleaned from reading this blog, I've been unlucky in love until very recently. But I have had 4 significant partners in the last 18 years since my divorce. All were / are working men and all from very different backgrounds. But they do have one thing in common, every one of them has told me, without prompting or any encouragement from me, that they've changed the way they spend their money since meeting me.
This was the thing that actually inspired me to start writing about my saving and spending experience. I unknowingly helped these chaps make more sensible spending and saving choices just by telling them about how I live. I didn’t force my lifestyle on them, or chastise them for spending. That's not my job and I was not with them for their money, so how they spent their money was nothing to do with me.
But whatever I did or said inspired them to see a different approach which improved their financial situation, every one of them. I'm proud of that. I'm pleased for them, like I'll be pleased for you if you even just start to be able to manage your money each month so you don't use your overdraft, or start to put away £10 a month to pay for next years Christmas.
We all start small. We can all make little changes without feeling that we are missing out.
On a day where collectively we celebrate life and come together with our nearest and dearest, remember to be grateful for what you have, be humble about it, smile and be happy. Spread your contentedness with the world you are part of. Be kind and generous with your words and your actions. For it's not what you have that maketh the man, it's how you treat your fellow man, animals and the planet that will give you that inner glow that people warm to.
My oldest friend had a coaster that says 'Happy People Shine Brighter' and it's definitely true.
