Hope for a brighter financial future for yourself and your loved ones

Written 30th July 2025

I still haven't fully posted all my posts on this blog yet.

I keep seeing programs on Netflix or links online to websites with information about managing your budget, saving, cutting down expenses etc. It makes me feel that there's no point me posting because my blurb won't be as good or interesting as anything professionally created. But as I sit here thinking 'I still haven't finished posting all my posts' it has occurred to me that I have one thing those shows and articles don't have. And that's first hand proof that the things we're all talking about can and do work because I'm living proof.

And the only thing I hope to achieve from my waffling is to have helped even just one person realise that it is possible to make a difference to your wealth and financial situation just by making some simple changes to your lifestyle and that you don't have to earn lots of money to do so.

That's why there are no comments on here, because it really doesn't matter if you think I'm tight or weird or have poor grammar. The things I say are not meant to incite debate or any emotions within the reader other than hope. Hope that it is possible to live on less, and that you can be truly happy with your situation and proud as punch for not being sucked in to the spending machine that is the world we all live in.

I've worked out that with my existing savings, future expected incomes and current expenditure levels, I should actually have a nice nest egg to leave my son and I'll have still had everything I need to live between now and then (32 years assuming I can make it to 85 years old), food, run a car, socialising, new clothes and gadgets, a couple of holidays a year and a couple of newer cars too.

So please take a leaf from my book and get on top of your spending and debts, be economical with your food shopping and don't waste food, or water, or electricity and gas or car fuel, be thoughtful about what you buy and how much you spend on things, use cashback sites, research the best interest rates, only spend money you have, pay for things in full, compare insurance providers and most importantly waste not want not. Reuse, repurpose, upcycle, convert etc etc with as much as you can and buy second hand whenever possible and you too can retire early or live in relative comfort for the rest of your days.

LF xx
